The White Lion Coaching House has a history which dates back to the 15th century, and is one of Stockport’s oldest coaching inns. When the original building was built, it was close to what was the only crossing point across the Mersey river, making it a popular choice with locals and visitors at the time. Sadly time took its toll and the building sat empty for many years. Despite the closure, the Grade II-listed building (the second building on this site) remained a much-loved part of the Stockport landscape, and thanks to the Underbanks regeneration project we have given the venue a new lease of life. 

We have revitalised the venue and have a created a warm and welcoming space that honours the original structure. Although it has been altered and modernised over the years we have made sure to retain its original charm, including the recreated mock Tudor frontage from 1823.
